Mathew Wilson is the Screening Manager of Cardiac Risk in the Young and the CRY Centre of Sports Cardiology. Mathew is head of the National cardiac screening programme for all Olympic and various International Sports.

Mathew graduated from Wolverhampton University with a BSc (Hons) in Sport Science and an MPhil in Exercise Physiology. Mathew then lectured in Sport Science and Exercise Physiology at London Metropolitan University for 2 years before moving to CRY. He is currently studying for a PhD at Brunel University examining the mechanisms that cause Exercise Induced Cardiac Fatigue in elite GB athletes and sedentary individuals and the age-related declines in cardiovascular structure and function in regularly exercising masters athletes vs. sedentary individuals

Mathew has represented both Wales and Great Britain at National and International triathlon competitions. In 1998, he was National Junior Middle Distance Champion. In 2000, was 10th in his age group at Ironman Lake Placid, and in 2001 was 16th in my age group in the World Long Course Championships, Denmark. He has completed various ultra-endurance races, such as the Marathon des Sables and the Trans-Desert 333km.
